Our client is a systems integrator specializing in physical and cybersecurity solutions. Their primary mission is to ensure the protection of critical national and European infrastructure - both physical and digital - while also supporting the achievement of strategic national security objectives.


Your new role

We are looking for an experienced Technical Lead – Databases to lead our client's team of database administrators and developers. The ideal candidate will ensure that our client's data solutions are optimized, scalable, and secure. This role involves close collaboration with various technical departments to implement best practices in database management and architecture, while actively contributing to the design, optimization, and maintenance of large-scale databases.

As a Technical Lead – Databases, your main responsibilities will be in the following areas:
  • Team Leadership: Oversee daily activities of the database team, providing mentorship and technical support to DBAs and developers
  • Database Architecture & Design: Develop and implement efficient data structures and models to support application and project needs
  • Performance Optimization: Monitor database performance and implement strategies such as indexing, normalization, and caching to ensure high availability and fast response times
  • Security & Compliance: Ensure data protection and implement appropriate security measures in line with legal and company requirements
  • Availability & Backup Management: Plan and implement backup and recovery procedures to minimize data loss and ensure disaster recovery readiness
  • Automation & Tooling: Identify and implement tools and automation processes for efficient database management
  • Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with software development, DevOps, and product teams to ensure effective integrations and meet data-related needs
  • Documentation & Best Practices: Create and maintain technical documentation and promote best practices within the team

What you'll need to succeed

Education Qualification:
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Automation and Computers)
Technical Expertise:
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in database administration and development, with at least 2 years in a leadership or coordination role
  • Strong technical expertise in SQL and hands-on experience with platforms such as Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL
  • Proven experience in performance tuning, indexing, query optimization, and transaction management
  • Experience with cloud-based database solutions (e.g., AWS RDS, Google Cloud SQL, Azure Database) and hybrid environments
  • Solid understanding of data security standards and practices, including encryption, access control, and compliance
  • Scripting skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell) for task automation
  • Analytical mindset and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose complex issues and develop sustainable solutions
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to lead and motivate technical teams
Preferred Qualifications
  • Database certifications (e.g., Oracle Certified Professional, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate)
  • Experience with Big Data and NoSQL technologies (e.g., MongoDB, Cassandra)
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices for databases
